Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Dental Implant?
A Dental Implant is a tiny, but strong, titanium screw-like post that is placed into your jawbone. After implantation, the bone in your jaw will grow around the implant and act as a natural tooth. It can support a crown, bridge or denture.
Dental Implants are a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth, as they are very durable and can last a lifetime. Dental Implants need the same care as your natural teeth; so, it is important to brush, floss and receive regular dental check-ups and cleanings.
Dental Implants are a great solution for:
- Replacing one or more teeth
- Providing support for a partial denture
- Improving the support and stability of full upper or lower denture
- Enhancing your chewing comfort
- Gaining confidence while smiling, talking & eating
- Improving your appearance
- Regaining your overall confidence
Lacking the presence of a natural root system and tooth can cause the jaw to shrink, resulting in your the shifting and laying down of your existing teeth. This can cause premature aging and occlusion problems with your bite, as well as difficulty eating, tenderness, and pain.
How much do Dental Implants cost?
Here at DaVinnci Dental, we're offering a $1600 savings per implant. On average for Southeast Michigan, a single dental implant can cost $1750. We are offering that same dental implant to you for only $399.
Several factors determine the cost of a replacing teeth with dental implants, including the number of implants needed to provide ample support for the new teeth. Additionally, there may be other procedures required to ensure the long-lasting health and durability of your dental implants.
Who is a candidate for Dental Implants?
If you have one or more missing teeth caused by tooth decay or injury, you may be a candidate for dental implants, depending on how much of the bone remains.
How old is too old for dental implants?
Your dentist will assess your overall health, which is the major determining factor in your eligibility, regardless of your age. Patients who are healthy enough to undergo a tooth extraction are usually in good enough health to receive an implant. Some chronic diseases, however, may make you ineligible to receive dental implants.
Is it true that Dental Implants more beneficial for me than dentures or dental bridges?
In most cases, dentures and dental implants fail to provide the improvements in facial structure that come with receiving Dental Implants. Dental implants can stop the premature aging that is synonymous with the jaw shrinkage resulting from missing teeth.
With traditional bridges, anchors are formed by grinding down the teeth on either side of the missing tooth. A Dental Implant allows you to preserve your existing teeth exactly as they are. Also, dentures and dental bridges are only a temporary solution. Dental Implants are permanent and have no removable parts- so, there is no risk of losing or breaking them. A quality dental implant will be with you for life.
Will Dental Implants affect my life?
Dental Implants are very similar to your natural teeth. They will look, feel, and function naturally. Not only will you you get a boost of confidence and feel better about your overall appearance, you will also be able to eat and drink normally without any complications.
Will my new teeth look natural?
In combination with cutting-edge restorative dentistry, dental implants will mimic the appearance, comfort, and function of your other teeth. In fact, they are often hard to tell apart from your natural teeth.
Will I be able to eat and chew normally or will I have to be more cautious?
After a short healing and adjustment period, the dental implant will feel completely natural - to the point where you won't even feel it. All normal mouth functions, such as talking, eating, and biting will be comfortable and natural.
How long does the Dental Implant process take?
Usually, the Dental Implant process will take about 6 months. Before placing the permanent crown it's important to allow the bone and gums time to heal. During that time, we will provide you with a temporary, real-looking tooth to fill the gap.
Is Dental Implant treatment painful?
You can expect to feel some discomfort, as you would with any surgery, but most patients tell us that the process was much more comfortable than they had anticipated. Also, we will provide a prescription for pain management medications to help with the discomfort that may occur.
How will I feel after the treatment?
Bruising and swelling of the gums and soft tissues is natural, but easily relieved with an ordinary pain reliever. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities after only one day.
How will I care for my Dental Implants?
You will care for your new teeth just as you would your natural teeth, by brushing and flossing at least twice a day and scheduling a visit at DaVinnci Dental every six months for a professional teeth cleaning.
